Frequently asked questions

How does solar power save money?

By taking ownership of your energy production using solar panels, you reduce or remove the need to purchase energy from your electricity provider. You can also sell excess energy back to your provider through the existing electricity grid to offset future costs.

How much can I save by going solar?

You save a significant amount on your energy bills by switching to solar. This depends on a few factors. Areas with a lot of sunlight and higher electricity rates tend to see the most savings. Your typical energy consumption plays a significant role in savings. If your average electricity usage is high, you can potentially see higher savings. A larger solar system that can generate more electricity will also provide more savings. We can work with you and your goals to find the ideal solution to maximize your savings.

What are my solar power financing options?

Solar power is a fantastic investment, and there are several financing options to help you go solar without breaking the bank. Common financing options for solar panel installation include: cash purchase, solar loans, home equity loans and USDA grants and loans. We can provide more information about your options when we conduct a site evaluation.

Can solar power be stored?

Solar power can be stored using a battery backup or by sending excess electricity back to the existing grid. The process of sending the unused electricity back into the grid is called “net metering.” This allows you or your business to receive credits on future bills from your electricity provider.

Will solar power work when it's cloudy?

Yes, solar panels can generate power even when it is cloudy. Solar panels are most efficient on bright, sunny days, but the diffused sunlight passing through clouds can still be harnessed to produce electricity. Solar panels will still offset a part of your electricity usage on overcast days.

Can solar power my whole house?

It's absolutely possible to power your entire house with solar energy. Many homeowners are achieving energy independence through solar power systems and have eliminated monthly bills from their electricity provider. We will determine the size of the solar energy system needed to power your entire home when we conduct our site evaluation.

Can solar power work at night?

While solar panels will not produce energy at night, you are still able to use the energy they created during the daytime. Battery storage allows you to use excess solar energy generated during the day even if the panels aren’t generating electricity at night. If you’re still connected to the electric grid, you can send energy produced by the solar panels during the day back to the energy company and receive credits against your electricity usage at night.
